Below is some information regarding your visit to our practice.
On the day of your appointment, please arrive 10 minutes early. Dr Collins prides herself on not keeping you waiting however, occasionally a patient may present that requires a little extra time spent on them, which may cause scheduling delays beyond our control. Where possible, we will advise you if Dr Collins is running late and we apologise in advance if you are kept waiting. We know this is frustrating.
During your first appointment with Dr Collins, a thorough medical and diagnostic work-up will be required. If you have completed any tests, please bring these with you.
Please telephone our office during business hours and allow at least 24 – 48 hours’ notice so that we can offer your appointment time to other patients waiting for treatment.
If you undergo surgery, a post-operative appointment will be scheduled via our team. This is an important appointment to check on your recovery process and avoid complications.
No, generally not. Dr Collins operates a full-service private clinic with leading local clinical staff team members and expensive state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, to ensure patients receive a world-class clinical experience. This service is not possible to run on a bulk-billing model. Therefore, there are reasonable out-of-pocket expenses associated with most consultations and procedures.
If you are a Medicare card holder and wish to claim the Medicare rebate, you will require a valid referral (addressed to Dr Ludmilla Collins) from either a GP or another specialist to entitle you to claim your Medicare rebate.
GP referrals are valid for 12 months and Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
Medicare ineligible patients or patients who do not wish to claim the Medicare rebate do not require a referral to attend our practice and will be billed per our standard rates.
No, you are not necessarily required to have private health insurance to be a patient with Dr Collins. A self-funded patient is someone who doesn’t have Private Health Insurance, therefore simply pays for their own medical treatment upfront. This consists of the specialist’s fee, the anaesthetist’s fee, the surgical assistant’s fee and the hospital’s fee. It’s the hospital fee which makes up the vast majority of the cost.
Dr Ludmilla Collins has many years of experience in complex, high-risk obstetrics and offers private obstetrics care at St George Private Hospital, St George Public Hospital, Kareena Private Hospital, and Hurstville Private Hospital.
Dr Collins understands that Gynaecological concerns can affect all aspects of a woman’s life, and believes that it is important for a woman to be heard without judgement and to have any concerns addressed with understanding and professionalism.
Dr Ludmilla Collins and her team would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
